THE MONOGRAPH «THE SPACE OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: VOICES FROM UKRAINE AND BEYOND» IS INDEXED IN THE SCIENTOMETRIC DATABASE SCOPUS!

Recently, the English-language collective monograph The Space of Inclusive Education: Voices from Ukraine and Beyond (edited by Olena Budnyk and Sergiy Sydoriv), published in 2024 by the renowned Brill publishing house, was indexed in the international scientometric database Scopus. This collaboration represents the partnership between faculty members of our university and one of the world’s most established and esteemed scientific publishing houses.

It provides a significant platform for the Ukrainian academic community to disseminate its contributions to the field of inclusive education, particularly within the challenging context of the Russian-Ukrainian war. During the presentation of the monograph, the Rector of the University, Professor Igor Tsependa, underscored the significance of Brill as a renowned international scientific publisher. He highlighted the critical importance of addressing issues related to inclusive education in Ukrainian educational institutions. He emphasized the need for training specialists in this field in the context of the ongoing modernization of higher pedagogical education: «This is the layer that we want to share with our European and American colleagues, so English-language publications are invaluable in terms of disseminating the ideas and thoughts that are being discussed in the Ukrainian educational space today…».

The book contains 32 structural elements (preface, introduction to chapters, chapters, subsections, etc.), of which 19 articles were prepared by 11 authors from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. This is a great success of the editors – Prof. Olena Budnyk and Senior Lecturer Serhii Sydoriv and the entire team of authors, which is evidence of the monograph’s compliance with academic quality standards and high Scopus criteria.

BRILLs website reads: Known as the breadbasket of Europe, Ukraine, now at the center of international concern and hope, is demonstrating new dimensions of dignity and determination that make it a school for the world. This volume, authored by both Ukrainian and international scholars, focuses on the inclusion of individuals with special educational needs and disabilities. Notably, much of the content was written before the biggest war in Europe since World War II. As the first publication to present the Ukrainian perspective on inclusive education to an English-speaking audience, this collection provides valuable contextual background while also addressing prospective developments in the field”.
