PNU ECOSYSTEM CENTER STAFF PARTICIPATED IN THE LECTIO MAGISTRALIS INTERNATIONALIS SEMINAR

As per tradition, the staff of the PNU EcoSystem Center took part in the 13th international seminar Lectio Magistralis Internationalis, which was held on June 24 in an online format, hosted by the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

The keynote lecture titled “A Time of Peace – A Time of War. Can We Beat Swords into Plowshares and Spears into Pruning Hooks?” (cf. Isaiah 2:4) was delivered by Professor Vincenzo Buonomo, General Counselor of the Vatican City State, former Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome (2018–2023), and a renowned Italian jurist. His address focused on a number of pressing issues that concern not only the phenomena of war and peace, but also their ethical, philosophical, social, and political dimensions in today’s world.

The seminar brought together participants from various countries and continents. From the PNU EcoSystem team, Associate Professor Kateryna Fomin contributed to the discussion, emphasizing the need to take into account the lessons of war: the value of freedom, unity, and national identity, as well as the importance of understanding how to build and sustain peaceful coexistence.

She expressed her gratitude for the thoughtful reflections shared during the seminar, for the support extended to Ukrainian scholars and students during wartime, and highlighted aspects of developing the education of future generations in the spirit of peace and international cooperation.
